MAR 21, 2022 - Vermont Economic & Labor Market Division Information Talk with Kevin Stapleton

Kevin Stapleton, economist and Assistant Director of the Economic and Labor Market Information Division of the Vermont Department of Labor, talked to the club.  In that role he oversees a variety of employment and labor force data programs, analyzes economic trends and travels the state to discuss the Vermont economy. In addition to his work with VDoL Kevin is a faculty member at The University of Vermont where he teaches economics, community and international development. 

Kevin talked about what his division does, and discussed the data and tools used.  Kevin was invited to talk to the club about the upcoming Tableau Workshop (Apr 4th and 18th) with the data sets from this current ASA contest:   https://community.amstat.org/dataexpo/home   Kevin explained that the Urban Institute created these files directly from the Census, Current Population Survey and Bureau of Labor Statistics data.  The talk was engaging, extremely informative, and ended with possible internships opportunities.
